Building Dreams, Empowering Lives in Welioya

On the 4th of October 2025, the Rotary Club of Colombo Centennial hosted a meaningful SME Conclave in Welioya, bringing together over 50 small-scale entrepreneurs from the region. The session focused on understanding their challenges, identifying key needs, and exploring how Rotary could help uplift and transform their livelihoods. 💼✨

Many participants were engaged in farming, small retail, food processing, and micro service enterprises, voicing their need for access to microloans, investor support, machinery, and business mentorship. These conversations revealed immense potential within the community, inspiring plans for structured follow-up support through partnerships and advisory connections.

The initiative was led by Fundraising Chair Rtn. Rasika Galapathi, supported by IPP Rtn. Crysantha Perera, Rtn. Kolitha, and Rtn. Milindu, whose dedication ensured the event’s success.

This conclave reaffirmed our belief that economic empowerment is one of the strongest forms of service — and with the right support, these entrepreneurs can shape a more sustainable and prosperous future for their communities. 💙
