Welikanda Outreach 2025🌾
On November 8th, we at the Rotary Club of Colombo Centennial completed a deeply meaningful humanitarian mission in Welikanda, carried out in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Army – Eastern Command.
This initiative was made possible through the extraordinary leadership of Rtn. Ranjan Amarasignhe, whose dedication, coordination, and personal contribution of close to half a million rupees were instrumental in bringing this project to life. His commitment unified all supporting parties and ensured that every family received assistance with dignity and care.
We were honored by the presence of senior Army leadership:
- Major General Janaka Pallekumbura – Commander, East
- General Prasanga Jayathilaka
- Brigadier Sagara Perera
- Brigadier Kumara
Together, we distributed 100 relief packs, each worth Rs. 9,000, containing dry rations, essential medicines, and clothing.
As part of our club’s contribution, I provided 100 RCCC-branded bags, towels, and sarongs, adding an extra touch of dignity and comfort to each pack.
We were privileged to support:
- 30 Tamil families
- 70 Muslim families
…following our outreach last month, where we assisted Sinhala families in Welioya.
This mission reminded us of a powerful truth. Service knows no race, no religion, and no boundary, only humanity.
When Rotary joins hands with the Sri Lanka Army, compassion transforms into action, and action into lasting impact.
Grateful to everyone who helped make this project a success.
Together, we continue to Unite for Good. 🌍✨
